All You Need to Know to Make Your Brand Stand Out on Social Media
In this blog post we will examine the opportunities for businesses to create awareness about their brand and stand out in social media and the network. Many brands are struggling to inform and convey what they are offering through social media. Social media is one of the strongest tools for businesses to attract potential clients so it is important we create them in a way that will be informative and attractive for the customers.
For example, if you are a nail technician, it is very unlikely that many people will request your service based only on pictures before and after. Customers usually want to know who is standing behind the brand, what is making your brand, product or service different than the others and how transparent your business is.
Let’s be honest, very small amount of people pay attention to the Terms and Conditions or Privacy policy on your website. That is why many brands are using that as an opportunity to bind the customers with too difficult to get out subscriptions, memberships, commissions and so on. That brings us to our first point of how to stand out on social media.
🔍 Be Transparent on Social Media
Use your social media to present how accountable your brand is. Convey your transparent options through social media — for example, if your business is on the membership principle, inform them that they can decline the membership anytime or that they can do that with one, two, three or more months’ notice. That way, people will feel that they are informed in what they are going into and that can be a reason for more recommendations from loyal customers.
“Hey do you know a transparent, easy-to-come-out-from subscription platform to promote my business?”
“Yes — check out The Right Guy. They are really transparent and you can cancel your subscription anytime.”
That is the kind of experience you want your customers to have. That is also an opportunity to create loyal customers — people value honesty.
And if your business does not require monthly obligation by the customers, you can still be honest. Heading back to our previous example as a nail technician, it would be really bad for your reputation if you haven’t mentioned that you are charging an upfront, non-refundable deposit to secure their appointment. Or maybe you haven’t said that the deposit can be refunded if the customer informs you 48 hours in advance. These are important details people value as everybody values their money and time.
đźš« Do Not Promise Unrealistic Results
Avoid promising unrealistic outcomes you can’t cover. Every day we all become victims in deals that are not going to bring us realistic results — whether that’s tablets that will make you lose weight overnight or something else — these are the types of tricks you don’t want to practice in your business.
However, even if you succeed to present your product as trustworthy, the bad news spreads easier than the good. So it is very likely that after some time you will receive a bunch of negative feedback. And if the product or service can harm the customers’ life, you might even have some bigger issues.
As entrepreneurs, we aim to build products and services that will help in the day-to-day life of our potential customers. So our advice is: focus on the positive, realistic impacts your product or service is bringing to its customers, even if it’s tempting to impress the customers with bold claims.
🌟 Be Authentic and Real Online
Show the real face behind the curtain. We all know that people connect with people and they want to know who’s the face standing behind the brand and what is the workplace environment.
So, if we take again for example the nail technician, people will be happy to know who you really are, what are your thoughts, how easy it is to communicate with you — are you friendly, approachable or more of a serious person? What are your values? For example, do you use some more eco-friendly products in your work?
Additionally, you can give some more information about the salon you are operating in — is there a good, fancy spot that women and girls will want to take pictures with and then naturally build awareness about your brand by sharing that with their friends? Or maybe you are welcoming each of your customers with coffee or a drink based on their taste.
These details are highly valuable and people greatly appreciate when they are acknowledged that they will not just receive a service but a personalised approach tailored to their taste.
🎥 Show Yourself in Action
As previously stated, people are interested in what is happening behind the curtain. And it is not unknown knowledge that the most viral business videos are those showing them in action. So show the world what you are offering by simply recording the process.
That way you are not just building awareness — you are building trustworthiness as well. You can even comment on your work throughout the process or invite the customer to share their personal opinion about your brand at the end of the video.
For example, if you are a builder, show the audience how your working day is going, what processes you have accomplished during the day, what products you have used, comment on your work or place relaxing music. I can’t promise you, but I can clearly say that this will highly boost your credibility as a business owner.
✨ Before and After Content Still Works
It is not a secret that pictures before and after are highly valuable — especially in some professions such as building, interior design, nail technicians, hairdressers and many more — which are making a huge difference with their service to the whole vision of the property or the people.
But don’t just go for the picture before and after with a plain description. The network is full of them. Give information about what were the challenges you overcame during the process, how did you manage them, what were the skills and knowledge you needed to apply in order to complete and successfully achieve the presented results.
That will clearly state your expertise and inform the customers in need that you are there, you know how to manage the situation, you have the appropriate equipment and you will gladly complete the work to a top-notch level.
📚 Put That Knowledge on the Top
Throughout the career we build ourselves. Firstly, we are cautious and hesitant — even shy — in what we are doing. But somewhere in the line we start building our skills and knowledge. We complete more education, we become experts in a particular field, we take advantage of courses, seminars and workshops.
But what does it matter if your target market does not know what you can and can’t do? We as clients want to be ensured that the person we are allocating our case to has the ability to handle the situation in an appropriate way.
But we also want to know that the person we are choosing is constantly improving. So if my nail technician says, “Hey is it a problem if I increase the price next time?” — I will be happy to accept, as she is taking advantage of courses to give me the latest trends in the manicure. She is also putting a lot of effort into hygiene and disinfection, her salon looks exquisite and she is always positive.
In other words, I want to ask you — will you still hold for yourself what you have achieved until now, or are you going to take the step to show that to the world and build your brand to stand out?
And now that you have all that knowledge about how to make your business stand out — will you apply any of the tips? Or do you have any missing points in which you think your social media can create better awareness of what you are offering?
